Even with government and military contracts under their belt, McMillan is still maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity. As a leading innovator among stock manufacturers, they have numerous world records in completion to prove it.
McMillan stocks are smooth and comfortable, with a palm swell and generous grip. The comfort and balance, weight and stability of your McMillan rifle stock is what brings together the components of your match grade competition or long range hunting rifle together in perfect harmony.
During recoil, the stock undergoes stress felt throughout the rifle, affecting accuracy. It’s for this reason that McMillan created the flex reducing integral barrel channel. This feature reinforces the structure in every McMillan EDGE stock minimizing stress to improve accuracy in the field or on the range. Gunware is proud to offer the McMillan Ultralight Edge on every custom long range rifle we build, which can be inletted for left-hand or right-hand actions. Alternatively, our expert gunsmiths can help you determine the right stock for existing rifle which you are looking to upgrade.
McMillan Stock FAQs:
Do Mcmillan stocks for hunting rifles require bedding?
Ask a dozen guys and you will get a dozen answers. While it’s not necessarily required, McMillan rifle stocks should be bedded for maximum overall performance. That is, you will notice the benefit received from reducing compression in the receiver area, and a decreased time in reassembly after breakdown and cleaning. After reassembly, the McMillan build is smoother and more accurate. And if that wasn’t enough, with proper bedding the rear flange will keep the stock stress free.
What are McMillan stocks made of?
The McMillan Edge is an ultralight stock, fabricated from 100% graphite cloth rather than fiberglass. After a very meticulous crafting process, it is painted with catalyzed urethane enamel paint – the most durable paint available. Edge stocks are 3 times stronger than standard wood stocks, and about half the weight. All McMillan stocks are made in the USA.
How much do the McMillan rifle stocks weigh?
A naked McMillan Edge hunting stock weighs about 2 pounds – almost half a traditional hardwood stock. Once your custom built hunting rifle is completely outfitted, the overall weight of your firearm will vary between 3-1/2 and 4-1/2 pounds, depending on the types of accessories added. Our gunsmiths will be happy to review any weight requirements or concerns with you.
